TAS First Home Owners Grant

On the Apple Isle, first home owner grants are available to those who purchase or build a new home from 1 July 2016.

Transactions between 1 April 2021 and 30 June 2023 can receive up to $30,000 and those that commenced between 1 July 2106 and 31 March 2021 can receive $20,000.

Applicants must be 18 or over; an Australian citizen or permanent resident and use the home as a principal place of residence for at least six months within a year of purchasing.

TAS First Home Owner Duty Concession

This concession offers a 50% discount on the property transfer duty where first home buyers are purchasing an already established home. Eligibility requirements are similar to the First Home Owners’ Grant, and dutiable values vary:

• $400,000 or less for property purchases between 7 February 2018 and 15 March 2021 (inclusive); or
• $500,000 or less for property purchases between 16 March 2021 and 31 December 2021 (inclusive).; or
• $600,000 or less for property purchases between 1 January 2022 to 30 June 2023 (inclusive)
