Brendale was first settled in the 1870s when it was known as ‘South Pine’. In those days, the name came from the first school that opened here. More than a century later, the name was changed to Brendale by a local land developer. Before WWII, this district was mostly used for grazing livestock, but it later grew into a thriving industrial area with solid opportunities for manufacturers. There is still plenty to attract businesspersons and entrepreneurs in here today.
And it is not all industry in the suburb. The pre-war agriculture atmosphere lives on through the Farmer’s Market on Kremzow Road. Golfing is popular in the south-west district, with a driving range and two golf courses in operation. And as residents in the housing estate near Tiny Brendale Park will tell you, the price of a one-bedroom unit in Brisbane (20 km south-east) will buy something significantly larger in here.
